Flowers + Fish - Alleyway Market
In the early evening in Saigon after the rain there is a wonderful atmosphere. The streets are damp, the air is cool and as the sunsets customers travel the narrow alleymarkets buying food for dinner. This woodcut is inspired by a walk through a local alley way market near my house in district 4 on the way to our gallery. To the right of the image you can see the flower stall with a selection of live seafood underneath in buckets.
Single layer woodcut print, carved from a 10x15cm Japanese magnolia woodblock, hand printed on 100% cotton archival rag.
