Thuoc Lao, Hanoi

‘Thuoc Lao’ (known as farmer’s pipe) is the traditional smoking pipe used to smoke locally made, very strong short bursts smoke . You can see them all over the country but they are most common in Hanoi and northern Vietnam. Usually propped up against a plastic bucket they are a common feature amongst local cafe spots. If you are adventurous enough to try then be aware! They are too strong for most and can cause extreme dizziness.
